NASCAR Cup Series ZL1 Camaro Seeks Redemption at the Ultimate Track Car Challenge

It’s not every day you get to compete against a NASCAR Cup car, so imagine how excited many of us were to see a Hendrick Performance-built NASCAR Cup Series Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 enter to compete in the Tire Rack Ultimate Track Car Challenge Presented by Grassroots Motorsports last year.

Unfortunately, the Cup car wrecked early in the event–blame debris on the front straight cutting down the right-rear tire–and was unable to finish.

Now that it’s 2022 and the entire front end of the Cup car has been rebuilt, driver Patrick Kite is hoping for redemption and the chance to show off the car’s true capabilities on track–capabilities like an LSX V8 good for 680 horsepower and 600 lb.-ft. of torque.
